Schedule

  1. Meet & Check in at Hiroshima station (In front of Shinkansen Gate)
  2. Depart from Hiroshima station
See Hiroshima Castle along the way to the Atomic Bomb Dome.
  3. Atomic Bomb Dome
Learn about the devasting extent of WW2 in a visit to the Atomic Bomb Dome. Despite being close to the bombing site, this structure managed to survive. The building still stands to this day and has been designated as a World Heritage Site in 1996.
  4. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park
Stroll through the large park that was once served as a political and commercial area of Hiroshima. Following its destruction during the war, it is now filled with trees and serves as a memorial area.
  5. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
Get a deeper understanding of Hiroshima's unique history before and after the war. See important artifacts and personal displays that can only be seen in this museum.
From Feb. 16-21, 2026, the Museum will be closed due to exhibit replacement. During this period, we will visit an alternative site.
  6. Ferry to Miyajima Island
Cruise down the Seto Inland Sea as you head towards Miyajima Island.
  7. Lunch: Hiroshima Okonomiyaki
Sample the famous Hiroshima okonomiyaki (Japanese-style pancake). Different from the more well-known Osaka okonomiyaki, enjoy the local take on this delicious treat.
*For those without a lunch plan, please take care of your own meal.
  8. Miyajima Otorii Gate
16 meters high Shinto shrine gate on the sea.
  9. Itsukushima Shito Shrine
・The magnificent views from the shrine.
・Built on the sea in the 6th century.
  10. Daisho-in Temple
Head to the foot of Mt. Misen and visit the temple where Kobo Daishi began the practice of Buddhism in Miyajima. Turning the spinning metal wheels with inscriptions along the temple's steps is said to have the same effect as reading them, so even those who cannot read Japanese can receive blessings!
  11. (Free time at shopping avenue)
Alternatively, you can choose to shop at a shopping avenue instead of visiting Daisho-in Temple.
  12. Return by Ferry
  13. Tour finish at Hiroshima Station

Loved everything about this tour. Highly recommend. A great mix of history, culture and scenery!

Veltra were extremely helpful and prompt in responding to pre-tour questions. This was our first time using them, and will now always look for tours through them.
