What to expect

Paddle through mangroves and trek the jungle to reach the hidden Nara Falls. Deep in the jungle, it’s a true remote adventure. Swim in the basin, jump into the water, or explore behind the waterfall while enjoying Iriomote Island’s wild nature.

   Pick-up at Uehara Port or hotels in the western area of Iriomote Island

   Preparation & Lesson

   Two types of kayaks are available: sea kayaks and stable river kayaks. A sea kayak will be provided if no preference is specified.

   Kayak Tour Begins!

   Start with a sea kayak ride through the mangroves, paddling about 7 km upstream along the Nakara River. Along the way, spot mudflat wildlife such as fiddler crabs and mudskippers, and seasonal subtropical flowers unique to Iriomote Island.

   Arrival at the Upper River & Trekking Begins!

   After kayaking, trek about 1 km through the jungle to reach the falls. The moment you arrive at the untouched, ancient beauty of Nara Falls is truly unforgettable and worth the journey.

   Arrival at Nara Falls (Break, Lunch & Waterfall Fun)

   After arriving at Nara Falls, enjoy swimming in the deep basin and feeling the refreshing mist. Relax in the water, stand under the falls, or even take a jump—enjoy the experience at your own pace.
