Worst hop on hop off bus I have experienced

I have been on many throughout my travels and this would be the worst experience I have had. The driver was terrible! The bus lurched, braked suddenly and all the other actions you can imagine from the roughest ride ever. I had to actually leave the tour about half way through as my back was hurting so much. Due to the infrequency of the tours we were only able to do the blue route which was a shame as all you really saw was the Tokyo tower and the rest was just driving around this huge City.

Very disappointing. It was the only black mark of all our travels in Japan which we absolutely loved.

In this course, I could see the outline of Tokyo.
But it was really boring.
-It was freezing day, so I had an impression that would have been needed something to make us warm, like hokkairo. I doubt the company can't make an effort to let the customer spend good time.
-Audio explanation had often been interrupted before it finished. Automatic audio system seems difficult to function in this type of the transportation. The company should provide the human guide for us to explain.

-The explanations itself were sometimes trivial matters, not essence of things.

It wasn't worth to pay enough for 3500yen.

The bus was centrally located but not easy to find once you come out of Tokyo Station and if you speak no Japanese. The stuff onboard speaks very little to no English, so it is hard to communicate with them. The guide stuff is not very professional and even rude sometimes. There are no trash cans anywhere on the bus and the guide named Ms.Itsukoshi was laughing at us for bringing an empty coffee cup onboard, rather than find a way to dispose of it... There is absolutely no eating on the bus! Ms.Itsukoshi threw a big scene when my mother who is an elderly person ate a banana onboard simply because we were touring non-stop and there was not enough time between the routes to get food. It was raining cats and dogs that day. The stuff demanded a ticket outside before you get onboard rather than allowing you to come inside out of the rain's way and look for it in the dry. They also have known us. It was the same guides over and over. The stuff refused to give us a raincoat (we asked 2 people!) for walking around, because they covered up the bus. But they did give them to other people before when it just started to rain. The commentary never coincided with the location of the bus. You never knew which" red or white" building it was. The bus was always ontime, which was positive and was not even thrown off balance by bad weather. The stuff closed the roof when it started to rain, which is positive. I have been on many hop on, hop off tours before, this was probably the worst one. I have not seen the stuff so unresponsive and unhelpful to the tourists' needs like I have seen in Tokyo.

The buses all have a long waiting time, between 60 to 90 minutes for the next ride. They are on schedule which is nice but the ride also goes too fast. The audio will cut off halfway while explaining a monument or something of the sort and then will never complete. The audio also usually didn't sync with what was being seen/ passed by which was annoying.

Two of the routes are almost exactly the same, one with an additional four stops in Roppongi but you're really paying for two and a quarter lines, not three.

Seating is only on the top deck so if it's boiling hot or pouring rain, you're out of luck. I have taken hop on, hop off buses around the world but this has to be one of the worst. Would NOT recommend.

Having to line up for 45min at the ticket office to redeem our prepaid voucher when unreserved people could purchase tickets 15 mins before was frustrating to say the least. Not enough buses, had to wait over an hour for the next bus only to wait in line again for people who had not purchased their tickets. The audio recording stopped half way through the description and was often out of sync with the locations.

French language

The voice in French was recorded with an automatic and robotic voice like Google translate. It was totally unnatural.

Also, the story suddenly stopped when the bus was crossing a new building in order to explain the new building.

Please take care of non English languages guys!
English commentary disappointing

As promised the Hop-On Hop-Off bus made its’ way through the route, allowing us to get a sense of part of Tokyo. Unfortunately, the commentary was very stilted, and lacked history, and details. I usually enjoy getting an overview of a city on a Hop-On Hop-Off bus, but felt that we hit only a few highlights of Tokyo and the information received was less than satisfactory. The Hop-On Hop-Off offered a means to get to some places, but beyond that it was disappointing.

We have enough experience with hop on hop off buses in many cities around the world and I believe that the info given during Tokyo tour could become more interesting if they talk about Japanese culture, tradition and the county it self instead of just taking when there is interesting city seen place !

The rest of the tour was music back ground

I hope the next time something could change

This was mostly a good experience. But there were some areas that needed improvement.

The audio was always "off." The announcements of the audio typically came after we had passed a location -- the audio was late or the driver was fast. In the beginning there was no info on the first 10 minutes of the trip at all. The ear plugs need to be up-graded. The style you have is very uncomfortable for some people, including me. Finally, the audio box for one of us (we were two travelers) was not working -- the volume could not go sufficiently high to hear.

There was an issue with whether the bus was stopping or not at the marked locations. For example, we would have wanted to get off at Asakusa to visit the market and the temple, but the bus did not stop there at all. The brochure indicated that the bus should have stopped there. But there was no announcement or offer to stop, and the bus did not stop. That was very disappointing to us.

We hope this info is useful and we appreciate the two-for-one offer in exchange for us providing this review. Please process the credit at your earliest convenience. Also, the ponchos were great and the woman at the Mitsubishi box office was super helpful.

I am very experienced with hop-on, hop-off tours, having taken them in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The English language recording broke after the first stop. I don't think we missed much, as the recording mostly just explained some facts about the highway when it was working.

The Ueno and Akihabara stops are inconveniently located as they drop you several blocks from the main attractions (this might be true for all tour buses stopping at these locations).

There are three separate bus tour routes and they really should be combined into 1-2 routes. The buses go four to five stops on a given line, then the bus doubles back.

Difficult to purchase correct ticket on internet. Ticket clerk totally inflexible when we requested travel on the non stop bus in stead of the hop on hop off. Same company, same busses, plenty of free seats on both busses but it was IMPOSSIBLE to change ticket. I think you need to be a bit flexible. Not sure I would recommend to a friend. I have used open top bus in London & New York. A lot more user friendly.

Unfortunately, rain was pouring down this day. We got all wet on the bus. Can only visit Asakusa Temple. Not a memorable day to speak off.

The bus ride is fine for a speedy trip through parts of Tokyo. We had good weather, but I would not do this in the rain. The guide was a bit out of sync at some points and cut the commentary short when you went past locations at higher speeds. It was a good intro to Tokyo, but I am not sure I would recommend it for the price.

This is the first time we visited Tokyo with young children, we chose hop on hop off bus to get an overview of Tokyo. It's very easy for us to find their ticket office in Mitsubishi building, there are plenty of restaurants inside the building thus you can grab someting before boarding the bus. Bus arrival is super on time, clean and spacious. The route design also allow us to view most of the attractive places, bus attendants are helpful and polite.

There are three routes per day for travelers to choose, we managed to go blue & purple line within 24hours, I would strongly advise a well time planning is essential for you to finish all routes.

The disadvantage of the bus route is the bus didn't stop in front of the tourist places, e.g. Sensoji temple (Asakusa line) & Tsukiji fish market. There are about 10min walking distance, as I said, this is our first time in Tokyo, I need to remember where the bus stop is, so that I can find it after visiting the tourist places.

Besides, this is good to have Multilingual Audio Guide in English, Chinese, Korean and Japanese. However, the audio guide will suddenly switch to next introduction before ending the current one. I think this need improvement so that complete information is provided as described

Overall, I am happy we took your bus tour. We learned much about Tokyo and its history. However, when we got off for a cup of coffee on the Purple line we discovered that the next bus wouldn't be there for over 3 hours. Had to take a cab to get back to the hotel for our dinner reservation. Also, the taped message on the Blue line was not synchronized correctly and was off by several minutes. It was very difficult to place the narrative with the correct scenery.

Customer service was great other than you have long waits at bus stops which can range from hour and half to two hours until pick up time.
Not as good as I'd hoped

All 3 trips are worthwhile and there's adequate English translation. However I found the time between pickups too long. It meant that if you got off at a couple of things you struggled to complete the loop. They need a few more buses to make the average waiting time 30 minutes, not 60 or 90 minutes.
A Pleasant Ride

Nice intro to the city, all for a very reasonable price. Seats were comfy and the sights were a delight. Barely used the audio guide, though.
Commentary let it down.

The bus and the route were good but the commentary was poor. There could have been so much more information provided, about the history of the city, interesting characters that have lived in Tokyo, about the design of the city, about the evolution of architectural styles, about how people lived 100, 200 years ago. I stead the commentary was dull. A pity.
